Artist Ray Simon is privileged to create a painting that honors the courage and bravery of the American soldiers who valiantly fought during the Vietnam War.
The insurmountable challenges these soldiers have faced both on and off the field of battle have set them apart.
Our nation will forever be in their debt. Featured in the painting is an American GI carrying two Vietnamese children to safety, ghosted behind him looking on are children being held captive behind a barbwire fence by the NVA, North Vietnamese Army.
Below the soldier are two Navy riverboats approaching the shoreline of the Mekong River in search of Viet Cong ambush sites. Blending to the left is the U.S. 1st Calvary Division rifle company, crossing through a rice paddy in the coastal part of Binh Dinh Province on a search and destroy mission.
An A-7 Corsair prepares to launch from the USS Constellation on its way to a combat support mission. Ghosted above the Corsair lies the Vietnam Memorial Wall with reflections of a hand touching one of many names of men and women who sacrificed their lives for our great nation.
Blending into the Memorial Wall are soldiers boarding a UH1-D Huey helicopter after a firefight with the Viet Cong. At the top right of the painting, is a solitary soldier standing guard as a permanent reminder of our vigilance for freedom. |
