| "Pay Forward" is a
tribute to both the legendary Coach Woody Hayes and the two-time
Heisman trophy winner Archie Griffin. Hayes believed that people
who are the beneficiaries of a good deed should pass on the generosity,
rather than paying it back. Hence his motto, "Pay Forward."
The painting features Coach Hayes in sepia tone during his first year
as head coach in 1951. Blended in full color in the same position is Coach
Hayes in his final season in 1978, 27 years later. The hands, gently placed
together, symbolize the passing of time. |

| The painting reflects on
the influential marks we leave on others. In many cases these qualities
- respect, discipline and a strong work ethic - are permanent reminders
of whom and what we are, and can be passed on to others for years to come.
When we find ourselves in a position of great influence and high profile,
then the responsibility becomes much greater to us all. |
